The Slide, the basis of Freeride

FREERIDE / SLIDE

If we exclude the cruising, it is the discipline which seduces the most new practitioners in longboard: the Freeride.

Every day at the store, new adepts join the family because they have been attracted by the crazy images that circulate on the web or in magazines.

The slide is certainly the most exhilarating practice in longboarding, and Freeride has brought it to the rank of art!

We are often asked what makes the difference between Freeride and Downhill. If Downhill is about pure speed, especially for the Race, Freeride is all about having fun. And it is through speed and slide that the sensations of Freeride are best transmitted!

Freeride and slide only require a small descent and a little space to express themselves.

In fact, you can freeride on any board with the right wheels.

Get ready to access the best in fun and thrills, put your feet on your board, and go for a big session of slides!

SELECTION : LONGBOARD FREERIDE

LONGBOARD FREERIDE : SPECIAL FEATURES

Freeride longboard boards can be of different styles.

The most important thing to remember is that a freeride board should be neither too long nor too short to have control over the slides, that it should be symmetrical to be able to ride in switch and that the wheels should have a finish that allows you to stall during the slides.

For the rest, you can opt for a deck with kicktails to be extremely versatile and maneuverable, or even for a directional that will keep a DNA rather typical Race.

Large Grip

Longboard Freeride Grip Gros Grains

This is not an absolute rule, but you can find grip coarse grain on the board to ensure maximum grip during slides

Symmetry

Freeride Deck Longboard

Again, there is nothing carved in stone, but Freeriders often opt for symmetrical decks that allow them to ride in both directions

Wheels of slide

Wheels that slide, of course! After that, it's a matter of taste. The difficulty is to find the right compromise between a minimum of grip at high speed, and the possibility to stall easily to slider

Shape comfort

Deck of longboard freeride wide

On many freeride boards, the deck widens at the feet to offer a lot of space and an optimized foot position. Often the deck is also slightly concave

It's in English, but it's subtitled.
