VANS AUTHENTIC
THE HISTORY OF THE VANS AUTHENTIC
The VANS Authentic is one of the first three pairs created by the Van Doren brothers. Originally named #Style 44, it remains unchanged since its creation in 1966.
Its fame is mainly due to its minimalist and simple style, totally timeless!
At the time, the pair was considered one of the only shoes created specifically for skateboarding.
Its canvas fabric provides a solid shoe while being resistant and strong. Its rubber sole, " Waffle ", makes it non-slip, an asset that will make all the difference and quite a lot of noise in the world of skateboarding at the time.
The original version of the pair is declined in red and blue, and, from the beginning of the 70s, the VANS Authentic becomes the official pair of shoes of skateboarders, but also of bikers (!).
The Authentic is a pair that has marked the history of skateboarding and, with its simple design, has established itself as a super trendy shoe that goes beyond the boundaries of skate.
THE ORIGINS
The first model, the authentic VANS Style 44, appeared in 1966 in the California store HOUSE OF VANS at 704 E. Broadway in Anaheim.
At the time, the brand's prices ranged from $2.99 to $4.99 and the store featured only showroom models.
On opening day, 12 customers came to the Van Doren brothers' store and chose the model they wanted in the color they wanted.
In order to reduce costs, the pairs are made on demand in the factory next door!
Nowadays, the famous Authentic with embossed sole is available in no less than 150 versions, in all colors.
VANS Authentic are available in a large number of sizes, for children and adults, and even in a "Stacked" version, with a wedge sole!
Even today, more than 50 years after its creation, the VANS Authentic remains one of the brand's flagship models and a special pair of shoes in the hearts of skateboarders...
