Where to buy my Stand Up Paddle in Aix-en-Provence

1. How to choose your Stand Up Paddle ?

Ride :

Whether you are a curious beginner or already passionate about S.U.P., for a quiet stroll to explore the creeks, take your picnic or even do your yoga; your choice should be for paddles 10 to 11 feet long for 30 to 36 inches wide depending on the size. With a rounded shape, this type of paddle will be a good stability for the first steps in the discipline.

For sporty rides, such as long trips, a paddle type "touring" with a front bow (pointed shape) will be advisable, it will be interesting to plan a longer S.U.P. of 11 to 12 feet to increase your speed and your comfort of navigation.

Surfing:

If your thing is taming the waves with your S.U.P., your choice will depend primarily on your skill level. Where a beginner may keep a Paddle wide enough to have better control in the waves. The rider experimenter may want to go for something narrower and reduce the overall volume in order to have a more playful board in the waves and increase the riding feeling.

2. Stand Up Paddle in the Bouches du Rhônes.

The stand up paddle is somewhere between the pirogue and the modern surf, formerly practiced by the Polynesian kings on huge boards carved from tree trunks. The purpose was to explore and trade in the lagoons of their archipelagos. It was then taken up in the 1940s and 50s by the famous Hawaiian swimming champion Duke Kahanamoku and his band of friends, the first beach boys.

Spots de stand up paddle Aix-Marseille

  • Among the best spots in Marseille to practice S.U.P. are the creeks. The turquoise water and the seabed are unavoidable because it is here that all the marine beauty of the Marseilles coastline is found. Don't forget your mask and snorkel to go swimming and observe the fauna and flora of the Calanques National Park.

  • La Ciotat and Cassisare located about thirty kilometers east of Marseille, and their magnificent beaches are close to the city center, easily accessible by car and public transport. Many clubs offer paddle rental from the main beaches for improvised rides along the coastline.

  • To the west of Marseille, you can start from the sailing school of Carry-le-Rouet to go up to Méjean. You will then pass through various creeks of exceptional beauty where the water will be so clear that you will be able to observe the sea bed without any problem.
