Even for your first board, you can build a custom skateboard by choosing all accessories separately. If the budget is bigger than for a complete skateboard (already assembled), you obviously have access to better quality equipment, and you can compose a unique board, entirely to your taste.

If you prefer to limit the budget, we suggest you to buy a complete skateboard. For more information, check out our guide "How to choose my skateboard to start".

Skate Custom: What are the advantages

The number one advantage of a custom made skateboard is that you can choose the best and strongest accessories. For example, there are very light trucks versions like the "Hollow" versions (with hollow axles). These trucks are never fitted as standard on the skateboards you buy complete. If you want to build an ultra light board, customization is the way to go.

Similarly, most complete skateboards come with standard hard wheels (diameter: 52-54mm, duro: 99a or 101a). If you want to equip a custom made skateboard dedicated to cruising, for your daily travels, you can opt for slightly larger and softer wheels that will better absorb the defects and obstacles on the road.

The same is true for the bearings. Custom mounting gives you access to high-end bearings, offering more performance and durability over the long term.

Another advantage is the look! If you want to create a board that is uniquely yours, you have to go through the customization process. This is the only way to independently choose your deck, trucks, wheels and grip. You have the possibility to create a sober skateboard, or to let your creativity speak by equipping trucks with pink, blue wheels and a green grip!

The budget

For a custom skateboard assembled with the accessories of the biggest brands, count 200 to 250€ approximately.

For smaller budgets, it is always possible to lower the bill a little by opting for complete packs: Trucks/wheels/bearings "all-in-1".

Which accessories to choose?

To start, you have to choose your deck. We invite you to follow our buying guides starting with our guide "How to choose my skateboard deck"
