A Cruiser is a utility board for getting around. For those who are looking for a board that is easy to ride, not too technical and not too bulky, go for a cruiser!

There are cruisers for all budgets, and all sizes. To help you make your purchase, here are some tips to guide you in choosing your cruiser skate.

A cruiser: what for ?

This is always the question to ask yourself before choosing a board. How will I use it? What environment will I encounter on my way to work? Will I use it only for commuting or do I also want to go pumptrack with it?

Depending on these criteria, you may choose a shorter board or larger wheels, for example.

What size for my Cruiser?

The size of the platter can vary greatly from one cruiser to another. Generally, the range is from 24" to 36" for a cruiser. While the two extremes are inevitably the least versatile, they can still meet the expectations of some aspiring Cruisers/Skateboarders.

The shortest cruisers (24-26") are... very short! For adults, it's best to go for a larger size since you won't have the foot room to ride comfortably. The only good reason for an adult to choose a small size is that they are very small and light boards, easily transportable. Otherwise, small cruisers are best for kids and smaller people.

The 28" to 33" sizes are the most versatile. Adapted to adult use, the medium-sized cruisers are logically the most represented in the range. For comparison, most skateboards are 30 to 32". This means they are big enough for comfort, but short enough to be manageable. If in doubt, if you're over 5'10", go for a medium size of 30", which is perfect for everyday use.

Longer sizes (34" and up) are best reserved for a special audience. The larger sizes are seriously starting to look like longboards. That's why we recommend the longer sizes: to get you closer to the longboard experience for Carver and to get you moving. Of course, these boards offer more room for your feet and therefore more comfort for long trips or to discover the Dancing.

Cruiser : trucks and wheels

The vast majority of Cruisers are equipped with the classic skateboard type trucks , which offers stability and enough maneuverability to move freely and do tricks. If you want to buy a complete Cruiser, don't worry, the trucks available on the already mounted versions are perfectly suited for this kind of board. The same goes for the wheels.

If you have to equip a Cruiser, and therefore buy the trucks separately, you can always choose trucks RKP (Reverse Kingpin) like in longboard. Be careful, this is trucks can modify your board towards a behavior much closer to the longboard, and thus more adapted to the speed and carving. If you want to keep the ability to jump curbs or do grinds, this is not the right thing to do.

As far as wheels are concerned, if you want to change the wheels on your cruiser or build a custom board, we invite you to consult our guide on Cruiser wheels.
