To slow down, brake or avoid going off course, the slide is the best way to keep control of your longboard. The power slide consists in unhooking its wheels to make a skid as one could do it with a snowboard. Whether it is done in front side (facing the slope) or in back side (back to the slope), the mastery of the slide is imperative to practice the freeride in longboard (for more info, you can refer to our tuto Braking in longboard

We will see here how some longboarders combine the slide with tricks of freestyle. As always, helmet and protections are mandatory...

Coleman slide

The Coleman slide is a "must have" when you start to get up to speed on a longboard. It is a very good way to control your speed when you accelerate too much or when the need to turn is approaching.

Here is a presentation of this type of slide from the chain : " Rob hytha "

Backside No-Comply 360 Slide Shovit

The Backside No-Comply 360 Slide Shovit also called the "sham wow" is a particularly difficult trick to perform, and requires relatively hard wheels and good inertia.

Here is a demonstration by Camillo Cespedes.

Frontside Powerslide Shovit

The Frontside Powerslide is one of the main slides to brake in longboard, it allows to control its speed but also to turn at the same time. It is therefore one of the main tools of a rider who practices the slide. However here, we will see in a tutorial video how to learn the Frontside Powerslide Shovit, for those who want to learn a slide that ends a little freestyle!

1 Foot Stalefish Grab Slide

As a bonus, a special Frontside with Adam Colton. Enjoy !

Toeside Predrift

The Toeside Predrift is a rather difficult slide, which lies in the correct application of the body weight, as well as the balance brought by the position. Very useful in freeride and in downhill, here is an explanation in pictures brought by Kyle Chin.
